Top Williamsburg galleries featuring the best in contemporary art are participating in the Williamsburg Every 2:nd Friday fall kick-off gallery crawl on Friday, September 9, from 6–9 p.m.
This after-hours event, where seasoned and budding collectors, artists, gallerists, community members and tourists alike join galleries for opening receptions, artist discussions, performances and refreshments, will be hosted by ARTLOG and sponsored by AT&T.
During the gallery crawl Williamsburg Every 2:nd and AT&T will continue the “Learn to Collect” project, which invites attendees to create their own “collections” by photographing artwork with their smartphones and uploading the pictures to the Williamsburg Every 2:nd Facebook page. The individual whose collection comprises the greatest amount of artwork from the most galleries will be awarded a smartphone.
New this month, local art experts, including Amy Kisch, founder and CEO of AKART and Manish Vora, founder of ARTLOG and GREY AREA, will lead tours through the Williamsburg gallery scene, beginning at 7 p.m. at Like the Spice Gallery (224 Roebling St.) and Causey Contemporary (92 Wythe Ave.).
All visitors are asked to check in at Like the Spice or Causey Contemporary by 6:30 p.m. in order to pick up a map of participating galleries and to receive a ticket for a post-event party at Causey from 9–11 p.m. Maps will also be distributed at local Williamsburg galleries and businesses and at the Bedford & Union Square L stations the night of the event.
