William Wolff: Persons & Portraits
October 22 to November 27, 2011 at ArtZone 461 Gallery
ArtZone 461 Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition in the side Gallery "Persons & Portraits," highlighting woodblock prints by William Wolff (1922-2004) portraying real, mythical, imagined and historic portraits.
Wolff was a contemporary of the Bay Area Figurative painters and even shared a studio with James Weeks in the mid to late 1950's. Wolff's figurative style and subjects were unique, even idiosyncratic when compared to his colleagues. Wolff stopped painting by the early 1970's and took up printmaking and teaching and continued doing so for the rest of his life.
Wolff's prints are in museums such as the Library of Congress, the Whitney and most California museums.
Reception Saturday October 22, 5:00 - 8:00 pm
Gallery Hours: 12-6 pm Wednesday-Sunday, occasional evenings and anytime by appointment
