I tracked down an article about him that I stored for future reference. I read it so long ago that I can't remember any of the details. Prophet of Bloom, Wired (Feb 2002). I remember it being interesting though and I plan to review it before the lecture.
I enjoyed The Hannover Principles: Design for Sustainability and Toward a Sustaining Architecture for the 21st Century. His site hosts some of his other writings, too.
Also, Social Innovation Conversations recently did a podcast of McDonough's lecture on Cradle to Cradle Design from the Stanford Center for Social Innovation. Good listening.
