In celebration of the reopening of the National Shrine of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini in Chicago, The William Ferris Chorale will perform live on Saturday, October 13, 2012. A Chicago musical landmark since 1971, the William Ferris Chorale has performed at prestigious local institutions and music festivals around the world. Through their broadcast recordings and worldwide performances, they have brought the joy of music hundreds of thousands of listeners and will now share their joyous music making with visitors to the Shrine in Chicago. Community members, Mother Cabrini devotees and music lovers are invited to hear The William Ferris Chorale as they celebrate the reopening of The Shrine with a concert of a capella choral masterpieces and organ works performed by Thomas Weisflog.
On October 1, 2012 the National Shrine of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini officially opened its doors to the public. The reopening of this historic and sacred space, which was dedicated as the National Shrine in 1955, has been a decade-long undertaking of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The Shrine offers individuals of all faiths and religions an opportunity to experience God’s love and be a center for prayer, worship, reflection and learning about the life and holiness of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini, the first American citizen to be canonized.
