Early music specialist and founder of Les Arts Florissants, William Christie, returns to Juilliard to lead Juilliard415 in The Music of the French Baroque on Friday, December 3 at 8 PM in Juilliard’s Peter Jay Sharp Theater. The program includes Lully’s Overture from Atys; Charpentier’s Concert pour quartre parties de violes (H. 545); Muffat’s Florilegium Secundum, Fasciculus II, Laeta Poesis; Charpentier’s Noëls sur les instruments (H. 534) (selections); Rameau’s Overture from Naïs; Mondonville’s Sonata Secunda; Rameau’s Pièces de clavecin en concert arrangées en sextuor, Vle Concert; and Rameau’s Suite from Les Paladins. Three members of Les Arts Florissants will be in residency working with Juilliard Historical Performance musicians at the end of November and the beginning of December. They are oboist Pier-Luigi Fabretti, violinist/violist Ada Pesch, and conductor/cellist Jonathan Cohen.
