Now in its 42nd year, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition is owned by the Natural History Museum in London and BBC Wildlife Magazine. One of the world's premier photo contests, it aims to find the best wildlife pictures made around the globe by photographers of all ages. It is open to both professional and amateur photographers. The 'Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2006' title is awarded to the photographer whose individual image selected from all the entries is judged to be the most striking and memorable.
