The Lonestar state is known for many things, such as Longhorn cattle, BBQ, small towns, and great wildflowers. On this May 14 tour we will have an opportunity to experience each of these Texas icons. Throughout Texas from March to November, wildflowers are blooming. On this tour we will observe and photograph many species of wildflowers of the southern end of Post Oak Savannah Ecoregion of Texas. The tour will begin at the Houston Arboretum at 8 a.m. - van transportation is included in the cost.
Areas that will be visited include: Washington on the Brazos State Park, Chappell Hill, lunch at local BBQ joint and the Blue Bell Country Store at the Blue Bell Creamery. A few of the wildflowers that we will look for include: Butterfly-weed, Scarlet sage, Indian paintbrush, Wild Onion, Pink evening primrose, and Partridge Pea. And if we are lucky, we will find Texas Bluebells.
