"Wilderness and... Hiking the Backcountry of Southern Utah" will be presented Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Emerson Center's Weaver room in Bozeman. Roger Jenkins, creator of the website TwoHikers.org, will be the featured speaker at this program, sponsored by the Madison-Gallatin Chapter of the Montana Wilderness Association.
Southern Utah is noted for its unique geology, as it is riddled with canyons like no other place on earth. Having hiked in its backcountry since the late 1970s, Jenkins will discuss both backpacking and day hiking opportunities in the less well-known areas outside southern Utah's five national parks. A published photographer, Jenkins will share some of his favorite photos and some interesting "lessons learned" over more than three decades of hiking in this amazing terrain.
