Wilderness and Remote First Aid is a must-take course for all outdoor enthusiasts who work, live or play in remote areas and may be more than one hour away from EMS service. Even though the emergency workers near these areas may be trained to search for and rescue those in need, there may be a delay in the notification of assistance, the time required to get to the patient, or in moving the patient to more advanced treatment. This two-day course in back-country emergency response expands the concepts in Basic First Aid and gives more detailed information and hands-on skills practice.
Some topics covered include:
• Allergies and Anaphylaxis
• Bone and Joint injuries
• Burns
• Chest Injuries
• Head, Neck and Spine Injuries
• Heat-Related Illness
• Hypothermia
• Lightning
• Submersion Incidents
• Wounds and Wound infection
• Shock and Heat Attack
The Tulsa Area Chapter American Red Cross only offers Wilderness and Remote First Aid a few times a year, so sign up for November's course before it's too late! For more information and to enroll, visit: https://www.tulsaredcross.org/Forms.asp?MODE=NEW&SnID=103869017&Forms_FormTypeID=-824
