Whistle Stop, Railroading in Springfield July 11, 2007

The sound of the railroad whistle evokes a host of memories in all of us: the rhythmic chug-chug-chug of the old steam engines; the first overnight stay on a rail car & the days spent watching the scenery clickety-clacking by; loading & unloading a flat hauler of freshly harvested timber. This exhibit will focus on the significant history railroading has played in Springfield's development.
