"Where Eagles Dare," an exhibition of paintings, concentrating on New York City urban life and suburban California, by former graffiti artist. Vaughn can draw, a rare talent these days. If at first glance his paintings look a little too pretty, a little too like bucolic suburban California, on second glance one notes that the sparrows and pigeons are tattooed with gang affiliations. The theme running through the series speaks of wild animals being partially domesticated and children going feral. This untraditional portrayal of nature is not necessarily sinister, but it's edgier than it first appears.
In addition to several solo exhibitions, Vaughn is active within the LA artistic community and participated in the Chrysalis Benefit Shows at Christies and Bergamot Station. Vaughn was recently featured in recent issues of Warped, Nylon, Juxtapos, PUTA and i-D magazines as "an artist to watch."
