American Buddhist monk Lama Marut, Buddhist teacher and yogini Cindy Lee, and fellow yoga teachers from the Asian Classics Institute present a four-day destination retreat, When There’s Trouble in Paradise… A Retreat on Ending Anxiety and Depression Once and For All. This retreat presents time-tested wisdom from the authentic Tibetan Buddhist and yogic traditions that is fully applicable to our modern lives. Participants will be offered tools and strategies to immediately create a happier life, as well as meeting other like-minded people, and enjoying the beautiful setting of the shores of Hawaii.
Evening philosophy classes include teachings from Buddhist Master Shantideva’s foundational text on compassion, Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life. This text will be presented in an original translation from the Sanskrit by Lama Marut whose easy, down-to-earth style has attracted thousands of followers around the world. Students of all ages and walks of life gather to hear his call for a revolution of true and lasting happiness. A perfect combination of warmth and wit, Lama Marut makes even the most esoteric brain-busters of Eastern philosophy work as practical tools for profound transformation.
Retreat activities also include daily yoga asana and guided meditations which will help integrate the teachings from the night before at the deepest level. To round out the curriculum, classes on Meditation Basics and The Art of the Spiritual Practice will present the foundations of a spiritual life in a way that is appealing and fun. The evenings can be spent participating in world class kirtan music (devotional singing) and even a traditional fire ceremony for purification.
