When Lives Become Form: Scholar’s Roundtable
A roundtable discussion focusing on Brazil’s Tropicália moment of the 1960s and its legacy through to the present. This session will consider the long-term effects on the arts of Tropicália’s extraordinary break with modernist traditions and openness to vernacular forms within a more global consciousness. Scholars in the arts and culture with expertise in the visual arts, literature, cinema, and music, initiate a conversation based on their findings and opinions.
Participants include Jens Hoffman, California College of the Arts, Marília Librandi Rocha, Stanford, Ana Maria Seara, UC Santa Cruz, Jason Stanyek, New York University and Karen Tei Yamashita, UC Santa Cruz.
