The theme of Evan's presentation will be “Travels in Entrepreneurship.” He will talk about lessons learned from his time working on the internet in New York, Silicon Valley, London and now Cardiff.
Evan is co-founder and director of SubHub (www.subhub.com), which offers a managed service that makes it easy for experts, personalities, authors and publishers to create powerful subscription websites. Evan also is founder of Atlantic Leap (www.atlanticleap.net), which helps American internet companies to enter and expand in Europe.
From 1998-2001 Evan was managing director of Excite Europe, overseeing 200 employees in multiple European markets with peak annual revenues of $30 million. Beginning in 1996, Evan was one of the earliest employees at Excite.com in California, where among other things he led Excite’s City.net travel portal as it grew into the web’s most popular travel website. Before Excite, Evan was business development manager at iGuide in New York (the first web venture by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation), and in 1993 Evan played a key role in the launch of Newsday Direct, one of the first online newspaper ventures in the United States.
Evan has been a board member of the UK chapter of the global Young Entrepreneurs Organization and a mentor for executive MBA students at London Business School. Evan has a BA in Communication Arts from Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, and a Masters degree in Interactive Telecommunications from New York University. Evan is a dual U.S.-U.K citizen and lives in Bath with his wife and son.
