'What Does It Mean to Be an American Girl?' features dolls and stories from the American Girl historical cast of characters, as well as toys, dolls and miniatures from the Museum collection, and items on loan from other institutions. Essays written by modern-day American girls will be displayed and the exhibit will highlight notable women in American history. Though the exhibit is anchored by dolls and stories from American history, the real focus is on using lessons from the past to inspire girls of today.
