This full day workshop will focus on the application of (Building Information Modelling) BIM for construction delivery. Presentation and demonstration will be provided by leading practitioners and researchers in view of the potentially impending cultural and technological shift to interoperable BIM.

Barriers to adoption, preparatory planning for BIM implementation to supply chain companies working at different phases throughout the construction project life cycle and achievable benefits are also discussed.

* To overcome the generic people hurdle to accommodate BIM. Dr. Howard Jeffrey, BIM Specialist at Skanska presents on BIM Interdepartmental Engagement, reviewing benefits achieved including transparency, cooperation and employees understanding of requirements.
* Representing Tekla, Paul Bettany presents case studies on BIM, focusing on steel structure prefabrication, assembly, site management and the benefits achievable, with Steve Jackson providing demonstration.
* Dr. Peter Court, director at Laing O'Rourke presents on the implications of 3D modelling in pre-fabricated modular Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) design and installation in practice.
* Research Fellows Bhargav Dave and Stefan Boddy of Salford University present Visilean: the production management system encompassing Lean and BIM.
* Nick Simpson of Skanska Rashleigh Weatherfoil (SRW) presents their practical applications of BIM in MEP contracting.
