An exquisite retelling of an episode from the Reamker - the Cambodian version of the Indian Ramayana epic. Wearing elaborate costumes and painted masks, dancers depict the age-old struggle between good and evil.
Preah Ream, a man with divine abilities, is abducted by Weyreap – a giant who rules the region of Batdal under the sea. The monkey commander Hanuman sets out to rescue Preah Ream, facing a series of fantastical adventures, from battling sea creatures to transforming himself into a tiny insect. The traditional choreography and storytelling is accompanied by live percussion and woodwind instruments.
