Shes a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll, and a little bit meshugeh (Thats crazy, yall). Wendy Lane Bailey bursts into the Metropolitan Room on May 23rd and June 6th with her singular blend of great tunes, a keen eye for the absurd, lush back up vocals, and a few choice anecdotes from her quirky Southern Jewish Baptist Mormon background. Rick Jensen provides musical direction, and Lisa Poulos adds background vocals.

Bailey is renowned for her ability to take widely diverse genres and meld them into one cohesive set. In her Metropolitan Room outing she manages to blend pop, country, emerging composers, folk, classic jazz and standards with ease. Says Bailey, I think weve reached a time when categories and labels are becoming obsolete. When Yo-Yo Ma plays tango, Renee Fleming sings jazz, Cyndi Lauper stars in Kurt Weill on Broadway, and Bruce Hornsby, and Rick Skaggs release a bluegrass version of Superfreak, anything goes.

Her musical flexibility has led to appearances at a number of diverse venues including New York Citys Town Hall, Symphony Space, the Duplex, the Emelin Theatre, Helens, Washington, DCs famed Blues Alley, the Kennedy Center, Odettes in New Hope, PA, and the Blue Room at the Fairmont Hotel in New Orleans. She has also lent her voice in the studio to support other artists including Pop legend Lesley Gore, Broadways Susan Egan, and Jason Graae, and on demos for up and coming songwriters. She is the recipient of a 2007 Backstage Bistro award. Her website is www.wendylanebailey.com .

Her vocals are heavenly, even when she's being devilish, and her command of both the stage and her material is enthralling. Rick Jensen's arrangements...combined with Ms. Bailey's skills as an entertainer; make this a fun-packed hour Don't miss this one... Stu Hamstra / Cabaret Hotline Online

I'm sure people tell you all the time that you're real good, because you are.
