Wet 'n' Wild Harding Canyon Falls, Santa Ana Mountains, Orange County (part of the Santa Ana Mountains Wild Heritage Project tour series)
Meet at Silverado Cafe and carpool to trailhead. Follow a professional naturalist on an interpretive tour through an isolated wilderness rarely visited by the public. Splash through the creek. Scramble over boulders. See many cascading falls over granite bedrock. At the furthest point, there lies a giant double decker waterfall spread over the broad belly of a cliff face. Find deep rock pools that you can jump into on a warm day. See new Chaparral growth on burned slopes, camouflaged treefrogs on the rocks, and fern grottos dripping with spring water. Search for the elusive steelhead trout. Many encounters with poison oak. Prepare to be soaking wet. Bring lunch.
