Wedding Dress Sale May 2, 2009

Second Chances, a Natick-based thrift store benefiting Greyhound Friends, is coming to Boston – for one day only! Second Chances is hosting a unique shopping event where Bostonians can find beautiful wedding gowns at an affordable price. This one-day sale will help brides-to-be manage their wedding budget and support a terrific cause all at the same time. The event will take place on May 2nd from 11:00am to 2:30pm at Doyle's Cafe, located at 3484 Washington Street in Jamaica Plain.

The upcoming May 2nd affair will include the sale of wedding dresses, donated from the private collection of a greyhound adopter. The dresses have been previously worn, but are in excellent condition. The dresses vary in style, with some including trains and others veils. Gown prices begin at $99.00. Second Chances hosted a similar sale at their Natick location in early April and because of the interest generated are bringing the remaining dresses from the collection to Boston.

Greyhound Friends, Inc. of Hopkinton, MA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving racing dogs and placing them in responsible, loving homes. Second Chances opened its doors in November 2008 with all proceeds of the store benefiting the Hopkinton kennel. The store merchandise is supplied by a generous group of donors who keep the shelves stocked with jewelry, glassware, clothes, books, greyhound merchandise and more. Since it opened its doors just five months ago, Second Chances has built a faithful following and has become a place for people to learn about greyhound welfare and adoption.

We are no stranger to the constraints on today’s economy and are hopeful that Second Chances and this special event will help us raise funds to meet the operational needs of our Hopkinton kennel.” said Louise Coleman, Executive Director of Greyhound Friends.
Second Chances Thrift Store is located at 6 West Central Street in Natick, MA, at the intersection of Route 27 and Route 135 in Natick Center.
