“Weaving the Willow Story”
Do you own a Liverpool basket? Willow basket weaving supported many people in the village of Liverpool from the mid-1800s right into the 20th century. In fact, in the late 1800s Liverpool basket makers produced and shipped about 360,000 laundry baskets each year. Come and learn more about the weavers, their families, their shops, and their baskets. Their history is interwoven with the community. We’ll also bring some examples of Liverpool-made baskets and weavers’ tools.
