Waterworks: Makandal May 2, 2008

Ten acclaimed actors will read the newly finished libretto by Carl Hancock Rux, immersing the audience in this richly layered story inspired by accounts of the first Haitian slave revolt. 'Makandal' explores themes of escape, freedom and homeland as it intertwines the struggles of refugees from Haiti, Cuba and the Dominican Republic with the journey of Haiti's legendary folk hero Makandal.
