Presentation: Developing Effective Policies and Standards

Speaker: Barb Padagas

Defining the risk an organization accepts in relation to protecting its information assets is established through a company’s governance structure. Policies, standards and controls provide the direction and guidance necessary to achieve and sustain compliance, and to protect information assets from unauthorized access, modification, damage and potential loss. Policies, standards and controls serve as the foundation of a sound security program needed in meeting, regulatory, fiduciary, and business requirements. In addition, polices can help mitigate the risk of non-compliance, meet governance requirements, and demonstrate compliance by deploying best practice policies and controls.

During the session, Barb will share her years of expertise and provide the group with:

Practical approaches on developing and maintaining security polices and standards
The policy lifecycle (review, approval, change and exception process)
Tools to manage policies, standards and controls
