Founded by former Harlem Dance Theater member, Fabian Barnes, the Washington Reflections Dance Company aims to strengthen the local and national dance communities by broadening the cultural dialogue and promoting the voice of the inner city in that discourse. The company uses dance to add a uniquely African-American voice to the nation’s rich cultural landscape. The Washington Post praises Reflections for its display of “power and centrifugal force … mile-high legs … [and] soaring leap[s].” The New York Times writes that the company “perform[s] Olympian solos with marvelous precision,” and The Star Ledger declares that “the movements [of Reflections are] fast and hard, yet elegant, too, blending ballet steps and floor work.” Co-presented with Mason-Rhynes Productions. Supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts. Sunday’s performance is part of the Family Series: Free for one child 12 & under with a paying adult!
