Varun Gupta has an invariable urge to photograph everything around him, ''a constant search for decisive moments'' as he calls it. While taking photos, he often finds himself looking beyond the normal field of images, seeking out angles that shift perspectives, and make the viewer re-look at reality. It is this search and his approach that have driven Varun to many places in India, unknown even to many Indians. At the Goethe-Institut he showcases photos of his latest travels to Ladhak for the first time. Born and raised in Calcutta, Varun Gupta now calls Chennai his home. He has been taking photos from age eight when his father gave him a SLR camera. He graduated at the Light & Colour Academy in Ooty and works as freelance photographer all over India.
