Las Cruces, NM – The Branigan Cultural Center will hold a walk-in family art workshop with Dennis Lujan on Saturday, March 12 from 2 to 4pm.
Lujan, whose work is featured in “Emotional Rescue: The Dream Catchers,” an exhibit on view this month at the Branigan, will be on hand to assist families in the creative process. Participants are invited to create their own art using acrylic paints and “found objects,” including discarded plastic, foam and other household utilitarian objects.
“Emotional Rescue” comprises digital collage dream catchers and medicine wheels created by Lujan using materials discarded as trash.
Families are invited to drop in any time between 2 and 4pm on March 12 to create an acrylic collage. No artistic experience is necessary, and participants are encouraged to bring any utilitarian objects they wish for inspiration though all required materials will be provided.
This workshop is free and open to the public; no registration is required. The Branigan Cultural Center is located at the north end of the Downtown Mall in Las Cruces at 501 N. Main Street. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information, contact the Branigan Cultural Center at (575) 541-2154 or visit www.las-cruces.org/museums.
