Are you a good storyteller? Are you a history enthusiast? Do you enjoy meeting and talking to interesting people from around the world? Volunteer as a historical interpreter at Hagley Museum and Library. Share your passion for history and provide visitors with a memorable experience. Share stories about the life of people living near and working at the mills. No prior experience is necessary. Training and multiple observations provided. Time commitment: 11am-4:30pm; at least once a month, weekdays or weekends. Applications accepted all year.
Requirements: Enjoy talking with and listening to people. Enjoy sharing information in a pleasant and accurate manner. Have good public speaking skills. Be flexible. Ability to occupy time with reading, handwork, or other activity if visitation is low. Requires walking, standing, and ability to climb stairs. Assignments are indoors, but not air conditioned. Parking available nearby. Attend all required trainings and shadowing throughout the year. Ask questions and continue to learn from the volunteer coordinator and written materials.
