The City by the Bay – an intersection of innumerable cultures and perspectives, a hub of artistic innovation, and a home away from home for thousands of adventurers. In their final concert of the 06/07 season, Volti is joined by the esteemed Piedmont Children’s Choirs in a program exploring the contrasting musical voices of just two of these adventurers, composers Kui Dong and Mark Winges, Volti’s long-time resident composer. Dong’s music is human and openly expressive, blending Western-style modernism with elements imported from her native Beijing. Winges' approach is highly structured, evoking emotional responses from his audience in unexpected ways. Come hear what they have to say to you!
“[Volti] may well be the finest collection of chamber singers in the country… I have yet to encounter its equal. They’re miraculous, a treasure of the local scene.” -- Heuwell Tircuit, SFCV
