Join Vocalist Kat Parra's for a special concert of new music entitled "The Sephardic Music Experience" as part of the "Music in the Garden 101" series at San Francisco's beautiful Yerba Buena Gardens.
Kat was awarded a Zellerbach Foundation Grant specificially for the her exploration and development of new Sephardic musical material for concert performances. Four renowned arrangers have taken ancient sephardic songs from the middle ages and modernized them using elements of jazz, afro-cuban, middle-eastern and afro-peruvian music. Kat sings all the material in the original Ladino language of the ancient Sephardic jews.
The band also features Peter Barshay (bass), Masaru Koga (woodwinds), Stephanie Antoine (violin), Murray Low (piano), Paul Van Wageningen (drums) and Katja Cooper (percussion).
