"Video Killed the Radio Star" by British synthpop group The Buggles, celebrates the golden days of radio, describing a singer whose career is cut short by television. It was the first music video shown on MTV in North America and is the theme of this interactive nightclub event.

Interactive in that not only will the DJ be dropping the perfect mix of dance-friendly pop, hip hop, rock and mash-up beats, but will also be mixing the music videos that coincide with the tracks on the fly. Video mixing has been around the production world for many years at events like concerts and music festivals, usually in conjunction with other performance art. Just recently, has this art come in to play in the nightclub environment. As technology evolved, it's become more feasible for touring club DJs to incorporate video mixing into their performances. Hence our new monthly event featuring the medium.

Video Killed the Radio Star' returns to San Francisco next Friday, February 12th featuring a video set by San Francisco favorite DJ Zhaldee as well as a live music appearance by rising pop-singer Xavier Toscano.

Xavier Toscano grew up with MTV on the tube and the multicultural scene of the Bay Area blaring in the background, and his music reflects it. Toscano's music can be described as enthusiastic, young, urban pop. He blends his love of rap and R&B with his Latino background. His major music influences include: Madonna, Prince, Freddie Mercury, Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, Kylie Minogue, Timbaland, The Neptunes, and 70's disco Funk.

Inspired to put his love of music into action, Toscano has spent the last two years in the studio. In September, he released his debut album Mighty Real, and is currently planning a 2008/2009 club tour to support it. Not content to just stand on the stage and sing, his show will combine his other talents as an actor and dancer to create an act with the flair of theatre and the flash of MTV, tied together with his energetic pop sound.

Xavier believes that pop music is the soundtrack to our lives. It has the power to carve events in our lives in stone. When you hear a pop song from your past, it has the power to take you back. It brings back memories long faded into sepia back with a colorful pop, allowing the past to be instantly relived. That is what makes Toscano love music much. And that is the power he hopes to infuse into his songs..
