Aaron Redner, the dynamic, versatile young violinist from the Bay Area-based band, Hot Buttered Rum will present a one-night only performance tonight. The centerpiece of the concert will be the 4 Seasons of Vivaldi.
Throughout the night there will be thematically related music from the genres of Jazz, Bluegrass, and Swing. Aaron will be joined by a string quartet, harpsichord, and bass, all with musicians who make their homes in the Bay Area.
Aaron Redner was raised in Mill Valley and still calls Marin County his home. He has toured full-time with Hot Buttered Rum for the last 6 years playing up to 180 concerts a year. He has played festivals all over the country including the Telluride Bluegrass festival, Merlefest, Newport Folk Festival, and High Sierra.
The band has performed at the Fillmore Auditorium, the Greek Theater in Berkeley, and the Great American Music Hall.
He has shared the stage with a wide variety of musicians ranging from Bela Fleck and Peter Rowan, to Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg and Gunther Schuller.
This concert will connect Aaron with his classical violin roots. He has a Master's degree in violin performance from the New England Conservatory and has played recitals and concertos in the United States.
Karen Shinozaki Principal second violin of the Santa Rosa Symphony, is familiar to Bay Area audiences as a soloist, guest leader, and member of several orchestras in the region. She performs with the New Century Chamber Orchestra, the Marin Symphony, the Sun Valley Summer Symphony as a regular extra in the San Francisco Opera and Ballet Orchestras, and is a frequent chamber music collaborator, playing diverse groups including the Santa Rosa Chamber Players, Left Coast Chamber Ensemble, the Berkeley Contemporary Chamber Players, the Sor Ensemble and the Galapagos Quartet.
Karen has recorded with the Grammy-nominated New Century Chamber Orchestra, the Santa Rosa Symphony, and the Santa Rosa Symphony, the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra, and the band Baby Snufkin.
Michelle Maruyama began violin studies at age four after seeing Itzhak Perlman on the PBS show Sesame Street. Since then the violin has taken her to Carnegie Hall in New York, Rome, Italy, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and recently Yokohama, Japan, where she appeared at the Nano Mugen Festival with Third Eye Blind. Professional performances include concerts with the Santa Rosa, Marin, Stockton, Monterey County, Napa Valley and San Francisco Symphonies as well as the Fresno and Sacramento Philharmonics and the New Century Chamber Orchestra.
Eugene Sor Eugene currently serves as Principal Cellist of the Stockton Symphony and performs regularly with the Santa Rosa Symphony and S.F. chamber Orchestra. He is a longtime faculty member of the Crowden School of Music in Berkeley and conducts the Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra’s Debut Ensemble.
Erin Benim: Received her Bachelor’s of Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she was a student of Ian Swensen and Mark Sokol. Erin has served as Concertmaster with the Santa Rosa Symphony, the Fresno Philharmonic, the Napa Valley Symphony, the International Music Program, and the Berkeley Opera Orchestra, and has been a soloist with the North Carolina Symphony. Erin is currently the Assistant Concertmaster of the Santa Rosa Symphony, and has also performed with the Marin, Stockton, and Oakland East Bay Symphonies, as well as the New Century Chamber Orchestra.
Adam Roszkiewicz Inspired by Mississippi John Hurt, Tom Petty. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Adam performs Bluegrass, folk and new acoustic music on guitar, mandolin, and mandocello, and tours regularly as a member of AJ Roach and The Strange Pilgrims. He has performed at the Icicle Creek music festival in Washington, the Mozart festival in San Luis Obispo, the Hardly-Strictly-Bluegrass festival in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. Adam is also an experienced Classical guitarist. He has earned his undergraduate and graduate diplomas in music performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he studied with David Tanenbaum and Marc Teicholz. In March 2005, he made his Carnegie Hall debut, performing guitar duets with Santiago Gutierrez.
JungHae Kim Holds a Bachelors Degree in Harpsichord Performance from the Peabody Conservatory, and a Masters Degree in Historical performance in Harpsichord from the Oberlin Conservatory. She completed her studies with Gustav Leonhardt in Amsterdam on a Haskell Scholarship, and holds an Advanced Degree in Harpsichord Performance from AmsterdamÕs Sweelinck.
Bryan Horne began his musical adventure at age 10 with the cello. He played cello through high school and switched to bass in college at UCSD. There he got a BA in music as well as played in a jam band called Oversoul. While playing in Oversoul, Bryan became more interested in acoustic music; he eventually transitioned from electric to acoustic bass and never turned back. His musical influences include Old and In the Way, Edgar Meyer, Phil Lesh, Stanley Clarke, and Gonzalo Rubalcaba. Coming back to the Bay Area after college, Bryan played in some musical groups with the members of Oversoul, eventually starting up a band, Hot Buttered Rum.
