The Las Cruces Museum of Natural History holds Sky Safari in the evenings twice a year at this months Desert Trek location, now come visit Leasburg Dam State Park during the day on Saturday, May 19, 2007. Come meet us at the Las Cruces Museum of Natural History at 8:00am and join the caravan out. We will dismiss from Leasburg Dam State Park at 12:00pm. A guide will accompany the group on a hike, giving insight on natural history and why Leasburg Dam State Park exists today. A limited number of spaces are available for this trip.
Leasburg Dam was constructed in 1908 and currently consists of 140 acres of land. Leasburg Dam State Park is located just north of town off of the Rio Grande, where the dammed up water is utilized for irrigation within the Mesilla Valley.
Please call the museum at 522-3120 to pre-register. Participants are required to provide their own transportation. Free.
