In the summer of 1934, Pierre Daura, of Minorca, Spain, and his family, came to live for a year in Rockbridge Baths, Virginia. During this time Daura began the first of what would be a lifelong series of oils, watercolors, and temperas, depicting the Blue Ridge region of Virginia. Returning to Virginia in 1939 for a visit and concerned about the political climate in Europe, the Dauras decided to remain in Virginia for an indefinite period.Twenty-four selected works executed during the period between 1940 and 1970 are shown in this exhibition taken from the collection of Martha R. Daura.
