Vintage Movie Night at the Garfield Park Arts Center

Showing: Abraham Lincoln (1930)
Known as D.W. Griffith’s ‘Abraham Lincoln’ in the U.S., the film includes brief vignettes about Lincoln’s early life, his courtship of Mary Todd, and the Lincoln-Douglass debates. It goes on to cover his presidency and the Civil War and concludes with Lincoln’s assassination. Starring Walter Huston as Abraham Lincoln, the film was tagged as “The wonder film of the century, about the most romantic figure who ever lived!”
Abraham Lincoln (1930) is being shown as a complement to the “Black Pearls” Black History Month Exhibition and will follow the opening reception held from 5-8pm. A suggested donation of $2 for the film may be made at the door.
