Fans of Charles Dickens, W.S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan are in for a real holiday treat Dec. 9-11 as members of the Village Light Opera Group usher in their production of Nathan Hull’s Scrooge & Gilbert & Sullivan at The Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts at Pace University in lower Manhattan. Scrooge & Gilbert & Sullivan mines eleven of the dynamic duo’s operettas to reinvigorate this tale of greed and redemption with a Victorian musical sensibility. Classics from Mikado, Pirates, H.M.S. Pinafore, Ruddigore and other gems seamlessly bring Scrooge’s world to life, with a libretto and some revised lyrics provided by Hull.
