California based Victoria Marks creates dances for the stage, for film and in community settings with emphasis on political themes. A Guggenheim Fellow from 2005, Marks has an ongoing commitment to locate dance-making within the sphere of political meaning. Her new work Not About Iraq investigates how dancing conjures meaning and speaks about our experience. The evening includes pieces about dancing, about the body and the mind, and the way dancing strikes metaphors about vitality, impermanence, beginnings and endings.
