In celebration of Vevay, Indiana’s Budget Travel Magazine “America’s Coolest Small Town” #4 placement, Switzerland County Tourism announces “Vevay Cool Day.” The event will take place Thurs. May 14 from noon until 7:00 pm along Main, Liberty and Ferry Streets.
City officials have agreed to initiate a proclamation announcing May 14 as Vevay’s “Official Day of Coolness”.
Live entertainment begins at noon with Pure Country until 3pm, InDecent from 3-4pm and the 330 Hwy Band from 4-7 pm. Street performers will be entertaining visitors from 1-5pm.
Police officers from the Town of Vevay Police Department, Switzerland County Sheriff’s Department and other special guests will participate in the “Cool a Cop” dunking booth that will be set up around Liberty Street throughout the event. The cost is $1 per ball or five balls for $4. Proceeds raised from the dunking tank will go towards the Steven B. Adams FOP Lodge #174, “Shop With a Cop” program that provides holiday shopping trips to underprivledged youths in our community.
Artwork submitted for the “Commemorative Coolest Small Town Art Contest” will be on display at the Switzerland County Visitor’s Center located at 128 West Main Street in downtown Vevay.
A “Cool Character” contest will take place during the entire event and guests are invited to dress as their interpretation of what a “Cool Character” would look like or a famous living or deceased person that they feel is “cool.” Prizes will be awarded.
