Project VET CONNECT-ED is designed to provide supportive services and information in order to increase the rate of veteran students in the Rochester area who are prepared to apply for and succeed in college, with a priority on economically challenged veteran families. Additional emphasis will be placed upon providing career-enhancing services through the establishment of veteran student–specific co-op and internship experiences with the help of the Rochester Regional Veterans Business Council.
The first Project VET CONNECT-ED outreach event is scheduled for Monday, February 7, 2011, with activities running from 1:00-7:00 PM at Nazareth College Shults Center Forum, 4245 East Ave, Rochester, NY 14618.
These sessions will provide a one-stop opportunity for veterans to get information on choosing a college, the application process, financial aid, the Post-9/11 GI Bill and other veterans’ benefits.
The workshops offered at the first session will be presented twice, consecutively, to allow more veterans and their family members the opportunity to attend. The first session will last from 1:00-4:00p.m.; the second will last from 4:00-7:00p.m. The expo portion of the event will be open throughout both workshops.
Additional Project VET CONNECT-ED outreach events are in the planning phases, and will be held at other colleges and universities, to ensure veterans throughout the region have the opportunity to attend.
