160 Voices plus 80 musicians - equals one powerhouse performance - Verdi’s Final Word and Finest Opera!
Few Choral works have captured the public’s imagination in the way that Verdi’s Requiem has. Truly spectacular, as well as deeply moving, it is widely considered to be one of the pinnacle works from the Romantic era.
The evening’s world renowned soloists Steven Tharp (Springfield native and Tenor), Arianna Zukerman (daughter of world famous Violinist, Pinchas Zukerman and Soprano), Jimi James (Bass) and Margaret Gawrysiak (Mezzo), as well as the choirs from Missouri State, Evangel, Drury and College of the Ozarks and the orchestra will all be pushed to the very limits of their sonic capabilities, by what is thought to be one of the most satisfying works to perform - as well as hear!
The evening will begin with Respighi - one of the greatest musical colorists. His works are full of color, light and shade and Trittico Botticelliano is no exception. This particular piece was inspired by 3 famous Botticelli paintings – Spring, The Adoration of the Magi and The Birth of Venus. The many bird-like motifs and pastoral dances throughout the work are literally a musical interpretation of the artist’s decorative lines and picturesque images.
So come and join the Springfield Symphony for what promises to be an evening of true musical masterpieces!
