Group tickets are available for groups of 10 or more at $11. School discount tickets are available at $7 for a minimum of 20 school students, maximum of 150 students per performance. Verde (Green) is a dance theatre work that focuses on the preservation and promotion of the sacred love and respect to our planet Earth. It based on the principals of the Green and Golden Rules: “Do not do unto Mother Earth that which you would not wish upon yourself. Do not do unto others what you would not wish done to you.” Just as we teach our children to show respect, admiration and care for their mothers, the same respect should be given to the planet, the MOTHER of us all. Verde brings the vivid forces of earth, water, fire, wind, vegetation, flora and fauna and is a plea through the universal language of dance for an end to the abuse of our planet. Under the artistic direction of Ana Ines King and international award winning choreographer Rosana Barragan Olarte, uses her European training in contemporary dance with her Latin American roots guides her to focus on social issues This work is available for touring and will be presented to inner city and rural underprivileged audiences throughout Virginia. Lecture demonstrations and workshops will also be given to the community. Verde is sponsored in part by the National Endowment for the Arts. This educational production would be a unique learning experience and great extra credit opportunity for Spanish, English as a Second Language, International Studies, Ecology, Literature, and Performing Arts classes.
