Virginia State University is hosting its 8th annual Vegetable and Berry Field Day on July 14, 2011. Our theme is “Grow, Sell, and Eat Virginia Super Foods”. Antioxidant-rich "Super Foods" are a growing part of the American diet. The market for Super Foods is valued at $38 billion in 2011. Health-conscious consumers seek out locally-produced foods when possible, and Virginia farmers can boost their incomes by becoming involved in these markets.
Our featured speaker is Tonia Reinhard, nationally-recognized author of the book Super Foods: The Healthiest Foods on the Planet, who will excite us with information on eating better, looking younger, feeling healthier, and living longer by including Super Foods in a balanced diet.
