Walk through the history of jazz with Vaughn Wiester, one of Columbus’ most beloved educators, musicians and band leaders.
Vaughn Wiester’s Famous Jazz History I will begin at the conclusion of the Civil War (1865) and trace the history of jazz and American music through the pre-Modern era. From the Delta Blues to Kansas City Swing, from collective improvisation to the ascendancy of the soloist and big band arrangement, follow the music (and the musicians) as it emigrates from New Orleans to Chicago, New York City and Kansas City.
