Vaud & the Villains has been described as what rock & roll would sound like if they played it back in the 1930s. V&V are more than just an eighteen-piece band and two dancers: they are an entertainment spectacle. To see them perform is to step back into a blending of time and genres that only exists in a V&V show. It’s New Orleans traditional, it’s gospel, it’s smoky backroom slow drag, it’s Dixie, it’s soul, it’s Cajun, it’s a porch front revival show – your living room full of some of the most talented musicians in town singing songs that you may not know, but are so familiar at the same time. If you have a pulse, your toe is tapping and you’re probably on your way to the dance floor. It is simultaneously a 1930’s rock band and a soulful throwback revival era musical. Free Gumbo!
