Vance Kelly & the Candy Lickin' Blues Band May 2, 2008

While not a big man, this South Side blues ambassador looms large in the Chicago blues scene, popularizing the south side sound to a mainstream audience. Recipient of a 1995 Living Blues Award, Kelly's sound is a mix of Chicago-sound blues with soul-blues funk, though he and his talented band are likely to range from Motown to jump blues, all of it good. Born in Mississippi and raised in Memphis, guitarist Linsey Alexander has been perfecting the art of the blues for nearly fifty years. Alexander has played with B.B.King, Bobby Rush, Buddy Guy, Little Milton, Magic Slim Johnnie Taylor, A.C.Reed and other great blues performers.
