Vanaja (Mamatha Bhukya) is a beautiful but impulsive 15-year-old girl from a lower caste in rural South India, who yearns to become a dancer. She manages to get herself hired as a maid in the household of a legendary retired mistress of Kuchipudi dance, hoping to pursue her dream. All goes well until the handsome ne'er-do-well son of the household (Karan Singh) returns home, and naïve Vanaja catches his eye, with tragic consequences. Lithe young Bhukya, who studied dance for a year for the role, is wonderful as Vanaja in this enchanting film filled with exquisite dancing, music and song. For more info visit www.vanajathefilm.com
