With Tim Woolford, Trek Wireless. Geotagged images provide an efficient and cost effective way of adding a 'sense of place' to both professional and consumer mapping applications.
The presentation will explore developments in this exciting new area including the use of vehicle, low level aerial and 'on foot' image capture systems, together with examples of 'real world' applications. Digital cameras, mobile phones and satellite navigation units are all supporting the creation and use of geotagged content. I'll discuss how such devices can be used and relating some of our own 'hands-on' experiences. I will also give an overview of how video and panoramic imagery can extend the use of geotagged images into 3D and virtual reality type applications.
Tim will be bringing along some 'gadgets' so attendee's can actually see and touch the technology.
This event is free, but registration is required. If you would like to attend this event please register by sending an email to GSG.Event@Googlemail.com. As usual there will be opportunities for networking and refreshments will provided before and after the event.
