Expect Theatre and Arts Etobicoke presents urbanNOISE 2007, a festival of urban music, dance, and art for inner-city youth to make noise against violence in their communities. This year's festival features Michie Mee, queen of Canadian hip-hop, and comedy legend Kenny Robinson, as co-hosts of the event. Headlining the festival is rising rap star Drake who also stars on Degrassi: The Next Generation, and R&B/Soul Juno nominee Deesha, along with Toronto's own reggae sensations Blessed and Humble. The acts on stage - representing over 15 cultural backgrounds - reflect the multiculturalism of Rexdale, one of the most diverse communities in North America. This free, all-ages festival happens June 29 and 30 from 3-8pm at Rexdales North Kipling Community Centre. Check out www.urbannoise.ca for information.
