About Us
Urbane Indonesia is a relatively young consultant, specialized in architecture, urban design and planning. Within 5 years experience, our company has been exposed to various types and qualities of projects both overseas and nationwide.
Our design team is supported by approximately 30 people under 40s and most of our senior designers actively teach at universities in Bandung and Jakarta. With spirit to share and continuously learn from other experiences, “Urbane Seminar Series” is established, inviting people with similar spirit to share ideas and provoke positive changes to our cities.
Background
Good cities are shaped with innovative development and strategic approaches. In many Asian cities, the developments is led by private development companies which competing each other to win the market.
Evolving market trend let alone unprecedented economic turmoils, demands continuous innovation in planning and development strategy, particularly now when market is more aware on environmental issues and the state of our world.

Innovation to balance nature and development is another skill to win the competition. Ayala Land’s Greenbelt project has succesfully and carefully blend a lifestyle center next to historic park in the city center.
City Developments, Ltd. has delivered a shopping mall with Platinum Green Mark, the highest award for building that implements green system.
This first Urbane Seminar Series invites Indonesia private developers and other practitioners in architecture and planning field to learn from these success stories and open up to more possibilities to shape a good city.

Lecturer and Researcher specialized in Urban Development Studies
Jo Santoso has rich experiences in real estate development. He had contributed in the early stage of Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) new town development and involved as expert for projects of World Bank, GTZ, Bappenas, UN Habitat and many other leading institutions.
He is currently Head of the Graduated Programme in Urban and Regional Planning, Real Estate Development and Urban Economics of the Tarumanagara University Jakarta (UNTAR) and still actively teaching, leading research team and being senior advisor for property developers and consultants.
In 2006 his first book was published entitled "Kota Tanpa Warga" followed by his second book "Arsitektur-Kota Jawa : Kosmos, Kultur & Kuasa" in 2008.
