The third exhibition in the Living in Harmony with Nature series for 2011 features Kenji Kobayashi, contemporary bonsai artist and owner of a popular Tokyo plant design studio known as Sinajina. Through a collaboration with 15 potters of the Oregon Potters Association, Kobayashi has created an exhibition of uniquely potted plants that represent his reinvention of traditional bonsai in a unique manner based on the contemporary saikei style. Literally translated, saikei means "planted landscape," and is the art of creating tray landscapes that combine miniature living trees with soil, rocks, water and related vegetation. Underwritten in part by the James F. and Marion L. Miller Foundation. http://japanesegarden.com/events/urbangreen/
