7 Hart House Circle
Toronto, Ontario

As part of the UFPE Conference taking place on April 18-20, 2013, there will be an art exhibit in the East Common Room of Hart House on April 18th and 19th. Presentations by artists are also included on each panel. As such, we encourage artistic expression, and we invite artists to come and showcase their work.

Hosted by the Faculty of Environmental Studies, York University, the Faculty of Forestry, University of Toronto, and the Humber Arboretum & Centre for Urban Ecology, this three-day conference covers a wide range of topics related to urban ecologies and political transgressions. We encourage the submission of proposals that examine a variety of subjects relating to urban forests and culture broadly conceived within one of the six conference themes:

• Historical Narratives
• Urban Tree Cultures: Identities and Perspectives
• Social Inclusion in the Urban Forest: Scalar injustices and community connections
• From Government to Governance: Redefining politics
• Urban Ecology Pedagogies: Innovative approaches to education
• Adaptation and Vulnerability in the Urban Forest

We are particularly interested in inter-and-transdisciplinary approaches and encourage artistic expressions and performance pieces.

Submission Guidelines:
There are three categories for submission: 1) Oral Presentations; 2) Posters; and, 3) Art Exhibition.

Oral Presentations
Each panel will include five speakers: a keynote speaker, an academic paper presentation, a student paper presentation, a practitioner and case study, and an artistic expression or reflective piece (i.e. illustration, performance, short film, etc.) discussing how this area has been impacting society at large (outside of academic research).
